Javeling, n. Also : javelin, jawelling, javilling, -yng, gavilling, jawalyng, jaivelin, jevilling, -yng, jevelin, jeffeling, jefflyng. [e.m.E. javelynge (1535), javelin, -yn (1520), 15th c. F. javel(l)ine, also geveline.] A javelin.In Douglas' Æneid and historical texts from the Latin, sometimes applied to a casting spear or dart. But in ordinary general use, appar. a kind of pike or bill or thrusting weapon of that sort.(a) 1513 Doug. v. x. 66.
