Lipper, Liper, n.¹ Also: lipyr, lypir, -yr(e, -re; lippir, -yr, -re, lyppir; lepper. [e.m.E. lypper (1525), var., appar. chiefly Sc., of Leper n.¹, ? with late vowelshortening.] Leprosy. Also attrib., and fig.(a) c1420 Ratis R. 181.
