Loning, n. Also: lonn-, loyn-, loun-, loan- and -eing, -yng, -ying, -ine, -yne, -e(i)n. [North. ME. and e.m.E. lon(n)yng, loning (1324); f. Lone n.1 Also in mod. Sc. and north. Eng. (and north. Irish). dial.]The spelling lounein is conceivably misread for lonn-.
