Lucina. [L. lūcīna adj., lit. ‘of light’, used as a proper name Lūcīna (sc. dea goddess), the goddess of childbirth, sometimes identified with Juno or Diana.] Identified with Diana and put for: The moon. (So used also by Hawes, 1503). —c1500-c1512 Dunb. G. Targe 79.
