Musterviliers, Mustevillus, Muster de villois, n. [In late ME. and e.m.E. as mostyrdewyk (appar. sic) (1400), mustrevilers (1428), musterdevillers (1467), musterdevilys (1523), etc., f. the name of the town now called Montivilliers in Normandy (formerly, in 15–16th c. Eng. sources, as Mouster-, Mustervil(l)ers, Musterdevillers).] A variety of cloth: ‘a kind of mixed grey woollen cloth’ (OED.). — 1444 Exchequer Rolls V. 150.
