Ousett. (Appar. the same as e.m.E. osed (1482), oset, ossett ‘some kind of woven material, app. of wool’ (O.E.D.). Whereas it is easy to connect ousett with north. ME. and Sc. worset worsted, a similar derivation of oset, ossett does not seem possible.) —a1500 Henr. Fab. 679 (Bann.).
