Pelat, n. [Appar. Sc. form corresp. to late ME. and e.m.E. palet (c 1450), pallet (1513), ME. pailet, paylet (Chaucer): cf. mod. F. dial. paillet bundle of straw, and AF. paillete straw, f. paille straw. Cf. Palȝet n.] A straw mattress or straw bed. Also comb. with -case. —1504–5 Treas. Acc. III. 35.
