Promovare, n. Also: -movear, -mover, -moover, -mouver. [e.m.E. promover (1545), but appar. chiefly Sc., f. Promov(e v.] a. One who advances another to rank or office; a patron, a supporter. b. One who furthers or advances (a cause). c.
