Pegy-, Pegé-, Pygy-mast, n. [Of obscure origin: perh. f. MDu., MLG. pegge, LG. pigge, peg, wooden pin (whence also late ME. peg(g)e, e.m.E. peg peg or pin), with Sc. dimin. suffix in -y; cf. also Du. peg, Da. pig, Sw. pigg pike, point, spike.] ? A small mast of some kind; ? a top-mast or ? a small mast or yard for a pennant on a ship. — 1494 Treasurer's Accounts I. 253.
