Quadrat, Quadrate, n.2 [e.m.E. quadrat(e in sense a (1471), in sense b (1665–6), L. quadrātum.] a. A square or a rectangle. (Unless the quot. (1611, below) is rather to be taken as an example of Quadrat,p.p. and ppl. adj. b. b. The angle, properly a right angle, formed by the positions of two heavenly bodies. —a. 1611 Reg. Panmure I xciv.
