Redortar. (Put by Hay to render OF redorter, f. redorte a withe, OProv. redorta (late 11th c. in Larousse), L. retorta, fem. of retortus p.p. of retorquēre to twist back.) — 1456 Hay I 46/17.
[He put] a grete wreth of golde … about his hals, the quhilk is callit in Franche a redorte [F. redorte]. And be that caus, that knycht and all his eftercummaris of him was callit redortaris [F. redorters]
