Representation, -acioun, n. [e.m.E. representacion, -ation (Caxton), F. représentation (1250 in Larousse), L. repræsentātiōn-.] a. The action of conveying an idea, image or concept. b. Right of representation, the right whereby the son of a deceased parent succeeds to that parent's heritage in preference to the parent's collateral kinsmen. —a. 1456 Hay I 282/14.
