Ridar, Rydar, -er, n.2 Also: ridd-; red- and -are. [MDu. rider(e, MLG rîder, ryder, ME and e.m.E. rider; Ridar n.1] A gold coin, formerly current in Flanders and Holland; a Scots gold coin, with an image of the king on horseback on its obverse, first struck by James III, and apparently issued until 1601. Also attrib.(1) 1451 Acts II 40/1.
