(Scheer,) Sheer, v. [Cf. Scher(e v. 11 (= to divide or separate), also in the later Sc. dial. = to pour off a liquid, esp. to pour off the top and leave the dregs. Cf. Schire v.] To separate into curds and whey; to curdle. —1696 Donaldson Husbandry 82.
When hot milk is poured into that which has stood some time, maketh it to curdle (or as it is commonly termed) sheer
