1. Satisfaction given to a person by payment, esp. by way of compensation for loss or injury. Also, an instance of this. = Assithment n. 1. Also b. Const. of (the offence, or the parties concerned). = Assithment n. 1 b.(1) 1525 Gordon's Aberd. 65.
