Skethie, n. [Dimin. form of Gael. sgàth hurdle, door secured by a hurdle, wattled door; also in the later Sc. dialect as skathie, skaithie.] ‘A fence of stakes or bunches of straw tied together with ropes and set up on end in front of a door as a wind-break’ (SND, s.v.
