Spech(yn, n. [Appar. med. L. specca (1532 in Latham). Cf. 17th c. Eng. spech (1624), spetch a piece or strip of leather, a trimming used to make glue.] Appar. a piece or strip of leather used to make some kind of basket, pouch or the like. — 1337 Exchequer Rolls I 439.
