Stevin, Stewin, n.² Also: stevyn, -en, stivin. [OE stefn var. of stemn Stam n., LG, Du. steven.] The stem of a ship. = Stam n. b. Counter-stivin, ? the stern or stern-post of a ship. [Cf. Du. achter-steven in this sense.]Chiefly in Doug.(1) 1512–13 Treas. Acc. IV 473.
