Sturt(e, n. Also: stwrt, stourt, stowrt. [Prob. metathetic var. of north. ME strut (Cursor M.), strout (c1300). Cf. Norw. strutt obstinate resistance and Gael. stuirt (Dwelly) huffiness, anger.]
