Tabart, Talbart, n. Also: tabert, talbert, tawbart, -ert. [ME and e.m.E. tabard (c1300), tabart (1362), tabert (1562), OF tabart.] A tabard, an outer garment sometimes sleeved. Also as a nickname. Also in fig. context, transf. and attrib.(1) c1420 Wynt. viii 1955.
