Catechis, -cheis, n. Also: catachis, cattechis, cat(h)echise, catechys; catechese, cathec(h)eis. [L. catēchēsis, F. catéchèse, also e.m.E. catechise (1637), -chese (1617). The ending -is (e for -ese may be due to the verb or to Catechism.] A catechism or catechizing.(a) 1551 Hamilton Cat. 7.
