Knapscall-bon(n)et, n. Also: knap(p)iscall-, knapskal-, knapschaw-, knapska-, -scha-, knappisca- and -bonat, -bannet. [Knapscall n. b.] a. A bonnet for covering a knapscall. b. Latterly transf. to the whole thing, metal ‘shell’ and bonnet together. = Knapscall n. 1546 Aberd. B. Rec. I. 237.
