Malan-, Melancolious, a. and adv. Also: -ius, melancholious, -iows, -ius, mallancoleous, mellancolious. [ME. malan-, malencoli(o)us, melancolyous(e (14–15th c.), malancholious (c 1400), OF. melancolieus.]
