Multiple-poinding, vbl. n. Also: -pounding. [e.m.E. multiple a. (1647), F. multiple, late L. multiplus; Poinding vbl. n. Cf. Multiply-poynding.] An action at law, earlier known as double poinding (for which see Poinding vbl. n.), which may be brought by or in the name of the holder of a fund or property, to determine which of several claimants has preferential right thereto or in what proportions the fund or property is to be divided among the claimants. — 1642 Aberd.
