Outlyer, -lier, n. [e.m. E. out-lyer (a 1658), -lier, in various other senses: Lyar n.] One who ‘lies out’ from church, an absentee from church. (Cf. Outlying vbl. n.) — 1606 Cramond Ch. Aberdour 3.
And in cases of disobedience the minister is ordeinit to proceed to the censure of the Kirk against the contumacious and outliers 1615 Fraserburgh Kirk S. 58 b (i i July).
