Pend, v.1 Also: pende. [Appar. F. pendĕre, late and med. L. pendĕre (L. pendēre) to hang, but subsequently influenced by Pend n.1, which prob. originated as a derivative of this verb.]
1. tr. To build as an arch or vaulting, to vault. Also const. owr. 1443 Reg. Cambuskenneth 127.
