Tablet, Taiblet, n. Also: tablett, -at(t, -it, tabblet, taiblat(t, -ait, -ett, -it, tayblett, teblet, tabillat, -et, tabellat, tabul(l)at. [ME and e.m.E. tablette (c1315), tabulette (1440), tablet (1519), OF tablete, med. L. tabuleta.]

1. A ? flat, relatively thin ornament worn on a chain, a pendant or locket; an element of this sort incorporated into a larger ornament. Cf. Tabil(l n. 10. 1534 Treas. Acc. VI 198.
