Wynd, n.2 Also: wynde, vynd, wind(e, weynd; (weynde, wende); wyn(e, wein. [Wynd v. Cf. OE ȝewind winding ascent, spiral.] A, freq. winding, narrow street or alley, chiefly in towns and cities. Chiefly, in proper names or with qualifier identifying the street, etc. Also in comb. with fute, gate, hede, hous, mouth. c1283 Reg. Paisley 385.
