Quhomle, Quhomell, v. Also: *Humil. [Metathesized var. of Quholm v. Cf. mod. Sc. dial. whom(m)le, -el, whomble, wham(m)el, whummel, etc., north-eastern Sc. fom(m)le, -el, fummel, -il, north. Eng. dial. whomle, whumble, whummel, etc., Eng. dial. w(h)emmel, w(h)emble, wimmel, etc.] tr. a. To overturn upone (a fire). b. fig. To submerge or drown (in sorrow); only in p.p. quhomlit. Cf.
