Red, adj. Also: redd(e, rede, reid; rade; raed; raid. [North. ME redd doublet of Rad adj. (Cursor M.), ON hrǽddr.] Afraid. = Rad adj. in its various senses. Also of a thing.(1) a1400 Leg. S. xvi 680.
