Rer(e)-sup(p)er, Reir-supper, -ar, n. (ME and e.m.E. rere soper (Manning), -souper (Gower), ‘a supper (usually of a sumptuous nature) following upon the usual evening meal, and thus coming very late at night, (OED).) —c1460 Dietary 50.
