Revell, v. Also: rew-; rav-; raiff- and -ele, -eil. [ME and e.m.E. reuele(n (c1325), OF reveler (1080 in Greimas) to rebel, raise tumult, make noise, etc., L. rebellāre.] intr. To make merry; to move about vigorously, as in dancing or sport.The quot. f. Montg. may belong properly to Ravel v.1, under which, in tr. use in a variant reading, it is also given. a1500 Bk.
