Requiem, n. [ME (Manning) and e.m.E., L. requiem, acc. of requiēs rest (the first word of the Introit in the Mass for the Dead).] Only in mes (seruice) of the requiem, a mass for the repose of the souls of the dead. — 1444–5 Peebles Chart. 11.
