ABSOLVITOR, n. A forensic term. A decision by the Court in favour of the defender (Sc.) or defendant.Gsw. 1700 Charters City of Glasgow ed. J. D. Marwick and R. Renwick (1906) II. 282:
The said provest, baillies . . . ratifie . . . also the forsaid other decreet of absolvitor obtained at the instance of the said magistrats and toun of Glasgow against the magistrats of the toun of Dumbartoun.
