BAOMBE, adj. numeral. Five.Dmf. 1922 Dmf. Rhymes in Rym. Club Edb. III. ii. 108:
Zeendi, Teendi, Taedheri, Mundheri, Baombe, Hecturi, Zecturi, Aover, Daover, Dek.

[The above is said to contain corrupt forms of the numerals once used by the shepherds in the hill districts of the old Cymric kingdom of Strathclyde. For baombe cf. O.Welsh pimp, Mod.Welsh pump = five, cogn. with Lat. quinque, Æolic Gr. πεμπε, O.H.Ger. fimf. For Eng. dial. variants see Trans. Yks. Dial. Soc. (1927) IV. xxxviii 41.]
