Blad, a lump or spot of dirt.

[Jamieson's suggestion, if right, would connect this word with Blaud, n.1, 2, a stroke, and Blaud, v., 2, to strike, etc., but see Bladd, n., below. Cf. Beff, n.1, a blow, and hence a swelling, as the result of a blow. See Blett, n., 1.]
