Then, sometime in the 'thirties, Tam o' the Post Office illuminated his shop, and the area around it, by the glaring white light of a Tilley lamp, ... It was a splendid beacon as we came into sight of it from the Head o' the Brae, but it left us "blindered" when we went out of the shop again into the night!
