BLITHEN, BLYTHEN, v. To gladden. Given in N.E.D., but the examples are Sc. [′bləiðən]Sc. 1917 D. G. Mitchell Kirk i' the Clachan 89:
Rules are guid, an' it's richt to be circumspeck an' decent. But . . . wha wudna hae a sang or a lauch to blythen the hoose?
Ayr. 1826 Galt Last of the Lairds xxxv.:
