BLUE-BELL, n. The name applied in Sc. and n.Eng. to the light blue flower Campanula rotundifolia, known in Eng. gen. as the harebell. Also known in Sc. as blue blavers and Blawort, q.v. Gen.Sc.Ayr. 1795 Burns Their Groves o' Sweet Myrtles (Cent. ed.) i.:
Where the blue-bell and gowan lurk lowly, unseen.
