BOONERMOST, adj. “This is an aukward [sic] and anomalous form of the superlative” (Sc. 1825 Jam.2). The -er of the comparative has been interpolated as in Eng. uppermost.Sc. c.1690 Jacobite Minstrelsy (1828) 25:
O Willie, Willie Wanbeard, He's awa' to sail, . . . Wi' his back boonermost.
