BOOTY, n. “A disease which growing wheat is liable to at the spring of the year” (Sc. 1828 Farmer's Jnl. (12 May) in T.S.D.C. I.). Not known to our correspondents. E.D.D. gives booted for Sus. and Hmp. with meaning: “Of corn: imperfectly grown, so that part of the ear remains enclosed in its sheath.”
