BUGGET, n. "A big lumpy, clumsy person; used descriptively — 'he's a right b[ugget] o' a fellow,' i.e. stoutly and heavily made" (Ork. 1929 Marw.).

Hence buggety, adj., "stout, lumpish, heavy, thickset (of a man)" (Ib.).

[Cf. Norse bugge, a "mighty man," phs. from Gmc. root *bugg, to be thick (Torp), but see also Baggit, ppl.adj., and Baggity.]
