CAIB, CAIP, n. The iron (or cutting) part of a spade or other such implement (Sth. 1808 Jam.); “a spade for cutting divots” (e.Rs.1 1929, caip).Sth. 1795 Stat. Acc.1 XVI. 201:
This John Sinclair and his master caused the smith to work it [iron] as caibs [i.e.] edgings for labouring implements.
