CAVEY, n. Also cavie. “A partan, or common sea-crab” (Sc. 1832 Scott Works (1868) IV. Gl.). Known to Slg.3 c.1875 (esp. for Fif.). Cf. Cattercavie and Keavie.Sc. 1826 M. Dods Manual II. 129: 
An excellent substitute for lobster sauce is made of them,-particularly of the small delicate species known by the provincial name of Cavies.
