CHANG, n. A ringing sound, noisy reiteration. Arch. [tʃɑŋ]Sc. 1788 Scots Mag. 608:
That gars it hae a finer chang In poetry.
Sc. 1936 J. G. Horne Flooer o' the Ling 54:
And in ilka shaw wild birds that never tine Their clang an' chang.
Abd.(D) a.1807 J. Skinner Amusements 100:
But, may be, gin I live as lang, As nae to fear the chirmin chang Of Gosses [dolts] grave, that think me wrang.
