CLEAD, n. Clothes, dress; of animals: coat. This word appears to be used only by Tarras.Bch. 1804 W. Tarras Poems 7:
As lang's in simmer wadders cast their clead . . . That name is sacred, and that name is dear!

Hence cleadfu', elegant, elaborate (of dress).Bch. 1804 W. Tarras Poems 48:
Compar'd to you, what's peevish trag Or beaus wi' cleadfu' triggin?
