CLERK REGISTER, n. comb. “The Lord of Session, who has charge of the public records of Scotland; head of the Register House. There was a Lord Clerk Register and a Deputy Clerk Register” (Sc. 1936 (per Abd.16)) but the office of Deputy Clerk Register was abolished in 1928, the duties now being carried out by the Keeper of the Registers and Records of Scotland.Sc. 1702 Hist.
