COVE, v.2 “To rub a flagged floor with a ‘coving-stone'” (Uls. 1880 W. H. Patterson Gl. Ant. and Dwn.). Hence coving-stone, a piece of sandstone used to “cove” a flagged floor (Ant. 1898 E.D.D.).
