CUDE, n.1 A name given to the butler or storekeeper at George Heriot's Hospital (Edb. 1898 J. Baillie Walter Crighton, Gl.). [kød, kɪd]Edb. 1910 Scotsman (3 Sept.):
The butler [of George Heriot's], a very important official, had the curious name of “Cude.”
