CURF, KURF, n. A surface, applied to the surface of the ground, to the epidermis, and to the hairy side of leather (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928); 1914 Angus Gl., kurf); “the cuticle or scarf-skin, used only with reference to leather” (Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl., curf); “a fine surface” (Ib., kurf).Ib.:
“Curf of the land” — the surface of the soil.
